INAUGURATION OF ReRo(Remote Robotics) LAB
- The IEEE Robotics and Automation Student Chapter of PES University, Ring Road Campus and cRAIS launched ‘ReRo Lab’- India’s first 24/7 remote robotics lab by an educational institution on March 27th, 2023.
- It offers students and researchers remote access to real robots, allowing users to upload code and perform tests in a safe, controlled environment. The lab is equipped with the latest hardware and software components required for remote programming, and a web platform that provides clear visual representation of the robot's movements and actions during the programming process.
- Prof. Jawahar D, Pro-Chancellor, PES University, and KS Sridhar, Registrar, PES University, graced the occasion and inaugurated the lab by lighting the lamp and cutting the ribbon. Following the demonstration of the setup Professors of cRAIS and Faculty Mentors of IEEE RAS PESU - Dr. Venkatarangan M J, Dr. Shikha Tripathi, Dr. Sudarshan T S B and Dr. Sethuram D, whose involvement and guidance was key in ensuring the success of the lab.
- Dr. Amit Kumar Pandey, Chief Robotics and AI Officer at Rovial and ex-President, CTO, Chief Science Officer at Hanson Robotics, showed his interest in this initiative by attending the event virtually from Paris. The stage was a space for conversations on potential opportunities and collaborations.
- A live demo of the fully functional lab was showcased to visiting industry experts from Bajaj on 30th Mar, 2023, who interacted with and posed important questions to the team. They were impressed with the progress and looked forward to future prospects.
- The inaugural event was a celebration of the journey of IEEE RAS PESU team of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year BTech students that started on 27th Oct, 2020, with the building and testing of the initial prototypes under the visionary, KS Gokulraj, followed by the architectural development of the arena by Sunidhi CS, structural development under the leadership of Aditya Mehta and technical integration under the leadership of Rathan R.
